This site contains a selection of photographs of some 20th century
British and European Piggy Banks, with some background history about
their manufacture and the potteries that made them.
Piggy Banks have become highly collectable in recent years and the
online auction sites now have many of the famous piggy banks for sale.
Amongst them are Arthur Wood, Szeiler, Wade, Sadler, Masons and Goebel,
whilst some of the less common figures do appear. The much rarer Quimper
and Wemyss piggy banks can occasionally be found. Hopefully this site
will provide some useful background information on some of them.
There
is also an enormous amount of interest in the NatWest piggy banks
which are featured in considerable detail.
Whilst we cannot guarantee the absolute accuracy of all the information
given, we hope it is correct. Queries or comments on the site are
most welcome and if anyone can provide additional information, or
can correct any errors, please do email us at
Click the links
above for some Piggy Bank History or for the individual
pages of Piggy Bank Potteries. The final link
explains, hopefully in simple terms, some of the basic differences
between Earthenware, Stoneware, China etc.
